The 7-minute Friday Clean That Prevents 80% of Audit Panic

Updated: Jun 4, 2025

Most audit failures happen because of missing paperwork, we thought we had.

Here's the 7-minute Friday ritual that bulletproofs your files

The "Audit-Ready Friday" Checklist:

Pick 5 random student files each Friday and check for these 4 deal-breakers:

  1. Signed Enrollment Agreement - dated ‘before’ their first class.

  2. Complete Financial Aid File - all required documents present.

  3. Attendance Documentation - especially around any withdrawal dates.

  4. Credential Verification - for any instructor who taught them.

The 2-Minute Rule: If you can't find any of these 4 items within 2 minutes of looking, your filing system has a hole that will hurt you during an audit.

Friday Fix: Immediately create a "missing docs" list and assign someone to hunt them down Monday morning.

Why Friday works: You're not in crisis mode, and you have the weekend for things to marinate before Monday action.

The Result: Directors doing this catch 80% of missing documents before auditors do. Zero last-minute scrambling.

The Automation Dream: When student files auto-populate with required docs and flag missing items in real-time, this Friday check becomes "review the system's findings" instead of "hunt and pray."
